With The Canadian Birch Company’s traditional Dark Birch Syrup you can bring a little adventure to your kitchen! Think caramelized pecan birch bacon – sure to become your favourite appetizer once you’ve tried it. It’s great served as a snack at a cocktail party, crumbled on Caesar salad, or in a decadent BLT.
Caramelized Pecan Birch Bacon
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- salt and pepper
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 tbsp Canadian Birch Company Dark Birch Syrup
- 1/2 lb thick-sliced bacon
Preheat oven to 375F.
Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire baking rack on top.
In a food processor, combine brown sugar and pecans. Process until finely ground.
Add salt and pepper, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper and mix well.
Drizzle in The Canadian Birch Company Dark Birch Syrup and process until mixed well.
Cut each slice of bacon in half & line up on baking rack.
Spread the pecan mixture on top of each bacon slice.
Bake for 25-30 minutes. Topping should be very brown and bacon should be crisp.
Remove from rack and let cool on a plate lined with paper towels.
Note: As some of the topping warms and drops onto baking sheet, it may cook quickly and smoke a little in the oven.
