A fresh take on an old favorite
Get your cocktail shaker out and keep the ice handy. This is a good one! The combination of whiskey and lemon juice sweetened by Birch is so delightful.
This is a mouth puckering balance of sweet and sour that will thrill on a warm evening as a summer refresher or during the holidays by adding a touch of cinnamon. No matter the time of year, you will want to share this with friends.
To sweeten this cocktail, there are several options to control the level of sweetness according to your taste. For a tarter, less sweet version, use Gold Birch Syrup which adds flavor and light sweetness. For a sweeter cocktail (totally our preference!) use Birch for Breakfast -- sounds a little cheeky doesn't it? Well, it must be 5 o'clock somewhere!

Prep Notes: To entertain a group, simply multiply the recipe below by the number of people and serve in 6 - 8 oz glasses. You can use a shaker or make a pitcher for ease of serving. To keep any leftovers fresh, don't add ice to the pitcher. Opt for icing the serving glasses instead. |
Ingredients: |
Method: |
2 oz good quality bourbon 1 oz fresh lemon juice 1 oz Gold Birch Syrup or Birch for Breakfast 1/4 Tsp Cinnamon |
Fill a cocktail shaker half full with ice. Add all ingredients and shake vigorously for 10 - 20 seconds. Alternatively, if using a pitcher, chill the pitcher in the freezer 1 hour before mixing. Add ingredients to the pitcher and mix well with a whisk. Place ice into serving glasses and strain the liquid mixture into each glass. |
